Our School

Hundred Hills School is a private, nonprofit, co-educational, day school for students in Preschool through Grade 8. The school’s mission is to cultivate each child’s intrinsic human value to set them on the path toward a purpose-driven life. Our curriculum is wholly inspired by the Waldorf pedagogy, which is developmentally appropriate, academically rigorous, and experiential.

Hundred Hills was founded by passionate parents, Whitney Stevenson and Sundeep Chanana. The school has assembled a tenured faculty of Waldorf-trained educators who are excited to be creating something without compromises, something special.

Hundred Hills is currently building its new, intentionally designed, and purpose-built Elementary School campus at 208 Dairyland Rd in Buellton, CA. Our faculty is excited to welcome students into these classrooms in January 2026. Interested families are encouraged to come tour our Preschool and Kindergarten programs at the school’s interim home in the SYV Botanic Garden.

The Pedagogy

The educational philosophy was influenced by a reverence for children’s EQ and IQ journeys, which are segmented into three stages, or the three I’s: Imitation, Imagination, and Intellect.

The philosophy manifested in a curriculum that elegantly prioritizes both academic rigor and experiential/kinesthetic learning. The latter weaves the arts and the physical body into cerebral disciplines, bringing basic-to-complex literacy and numeracy concepts to life, which in turn boosts knowledge retention and fuels lifelong learning.

A Waldorf-inspired education is arguably more important than ever before in preparing our children for a future that will reward, in all its forms, those who can Think, Create, Do, and Decide contextually, creatively, and critically.
