Technology and Media
Hundred Hills offers a safe haven for families who have decided to protect their child's earliest years from exposure to media. A priority for the founding of the school was to provide a learning environment that is free of the distractions of media on children. Our administration and faculty place a very high level of importance on helping families achieve the goal of zero media exposure for young children.
When screen-time doesn't dominate family life, and your child isn't centered around when and what they will watch, they explore, play, imagine, and create, and self-regulation and resiliency are strengthened.
We see the cultural shift away from screens happening in real time. If we can work together as a community of parents and faculty with the best intentions for the children guiding our decisions, it is within our power to establish a culture to support families in making the decision to eliminate media exposure.
Therefore, we ask parents to adhere to this policy by providing a media and screen-free environment in the home as well as outside of the home for their children.
Media Guidelines for Families
Developed by the Steiner School in NYC, the media guidelines support our educational approach and are meant to help families navigate technology use at home.
